Wonnemonat Mai!

Der Mai beginnt schon so schön, mit der wunderbar-romantischen Tradition des Maibaumsetzens. Wer heldenhaft seine Liebe bekennen möchte, hat in der Nacht zum 1. Mai seine Chance, denn was könnte aufregender sein, als seiner Liebsten einen Maibaum zu setzen? Und noch besser für sie, am nächsten Morgen aus dem Fenster zu schauen und sich verehrt zu fühlen!!! Wer noch keine Liebe hat, kann sie beim Tanz in den Mai vielleicht finden!?

Hier einige Tipps dazu, was der 30. April an Maitänzen so zu bieten hat:
In Dortmund wird, wie jedes Jahr, die beliebte Mayday Party gefeiert, wo es so viele Dj’s und Live-Acts zu hören und sehen gibt, dass man gar nicht glauben kann, sie alle in nur eine Nacht zu erleben.
Wer sich schon mal auf die Depeche Mode Live Tour 2009 einstimmen möchte, kann auf der Depeche Mode Party, die in verschiedenen Städten statt findet, in den Mai tanzen.
In der Kölner Musikbar Elektra geht’s absolut romantisch zu, wenn Dioz dort souligen Reggae, Hip Hop und ein paar Gems auflegt. Dort kann getanzt, getrunken und geknutscht werden. Am besten alles an einem Abend und natürlich immer mit Soul!
Wer Disco und Achtziger Hits mag, wird wohl im Hühnerposten in Hamburg auf seine Kosten kommen. Die legendären Heaven’s Door Parties sind immer ausverkauft und garantierte Spitzenparties.
Besonders schön und dramatisch ist auch die Liebesgeschichte von Orpheus und Eurydike, die am 30.04. und weiteren Terminen im Mai im Magdeburger Opernhaus aufgeführt wird.
Das traditionelle Maibaumaufstellen, was in vielen, kleineren Städten oder Dörfern als bestehender Brauch zelebriert wird, sollte man sich ebenfalls nicht entgehen lassen. Meist wird eine Prozession zum Dorfplatz gemacht, wo dann nach dem Aufstellen getanzt, getrunken und gefeiert wird.

Der Mai hat allerdings noch sehr viel mehr zu bieten als nur die Nacht, die ihn einleitet.
Die bezaubernde Annett Louisan tourt, genau so wie Christina Stürmer, durch ganz Deutschland. Joy Fleming und Band geben im April und Juli Konzerte. Patty Moon’s ätherischen Songs kann man in Freiburg und Oberkirch lauschen, und Jane Birkin verzaubert mit ihrer Tour zum neuen Album "Enfants D´Hiver" Fans in München, Düsseldorf und Hamburg.
Die Motown Ikone Lionel Richie hat sich nach Jahren auch wieder dazu entschlossen zu touren und beglückt seine Fans schon seit März in sämtlichen Großstädten Deutschlands.
Revival ist angesagt und wer das liebt, sollte sich auf die siebziger Band Saga freuen, die mit ihrer „The Human Condition Tour 2009“ wieder durchstarten.
Für alle Reggae und Dub Fans kann ich die gigantische Abassi Hi Power Soundsystem Session empfehlen, die am 15. Mai in Köln statt findet und mit massig Bass die Wände zum wackeln bringt.

So, genug des Guten...nur noch eins zum Schluss, am zweiten Sonntag im Mai ist Muttertag. Nicht vergessen!

Destination Nashville, City of Music

Nashville is generating excitement as the City of Music gears up for the summer festival season. In addition to hosting the CMA Music Festival 2009, Nashville is host to a variety of events this summer. The CMA Music Festival was dubbed the "crown jewel of Country Music Festivals" by USA Today and features some of the best known country artists of our time including artists who were born before 1969 like Trace Adkins, and artists that were born some 20 years later like Taylor Swift.

The CMA Global Artist Party is the unofficial kick off to the CMA Music Festival. If you want to see the best in Country Music entertainment from around the world, then visit The Stage on Broadway on June 8th. (Not to be confused with the many stages on that other Broadway somewhere in New York.)

On Wednesday June 10th, Greer Stadium is home to the City of Hope's 19th Annual Celebrity Softball Challenge. The softball game will feature some of Country Music’s hottest stars attempting to look good while breaking a sweat.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is the landmark an destination in Nashville. You haven't seen Nashville if you haven't seen this! All visitors must check out all of the artifacts on display and be certain to visit the Sing Me Back Home ever-changing permanent exhibit. An ever-changing permanent exhibit! Need I say more?

Don't forget to also see the show that made Country Music world famous. The Grand Ole Opry will host a star studded performance on June 9th with Carrie Underwood, and many other people who are not yet world famous.

Also check out where the first Country Super Stars got their start. The Ryman Auditorium first opened its doors in 1892 and hosted the first Grand Ole Opry show in 1943 making the Ryman Auditorium "the Mother Church of Country Music." Fully restored in 1994, the Ryman Auditorium continues to be a great Nashville music venue. Where else can you find a "Mother Church" of any music genre?

The 3rd Annual Country Weekly Fashion Show is a one-of-a-kind fashion event and concert. Country stars take to the runway to benefit Musicians On Call. The event takes place at the world famous Wildhorse Saloon. A fashion show at a saloon can ony be found in Nashville.

Italian Festivals in July

Italy has some of the best summer festivals in the world and these are ones you will not want to miss this July.

Join the Italians in Matera for The Feast of the Madonna della Bruna, locally known as La Festa di Maria Santissima della Bruna, as a the statue of the Holy Mother is carried through the streets to the Matera Cathedral Square. The festival procession finishes in the evening with fireworks over the ancient quarters of the Sassi, which is a Unesco World Heritage site.

Also in Italy is the L'Ardia di San Costantino in Sardinia. During the 5th and 7th of July about one-hundred of the most daring and brave horsemen of the village take part in a hores race. They do not race for prizes but rather for their devotion to Santu Antine or San Costantino.

Another Italian horse race is the Palio di Siena in Siena's central pizza. It is held on July 2nd and on August 16th. During the race in jockeys ride bareback as they circle the Piazza del Campo. The rece is preceded by a magnificent pageant, the Corteo Storico.

One of the most spectacular festivals in Italy is the Festa del Redentore. It is also one of the Venetians' most treasured festivities. It falls on the third Sunday in July, when Holy Mass is held in the presence of the Patriarch, followed by a religious procession. The festivity comes to a climax on Saturday night with fireworks against backdrop of Saint Mark's Basin. The weekend ends with a gondola regatta on Sunday.
